Day 6: Greenland

Blazer, Kenneth Cole Reaction via Macy’s; Shirt, Walmart; Dress, REI; Shoes, Hush Puppies; belt, unknown; necklace, Micheal’s.

So last time I arrived too late to the breton stripe party and now I am a bit early to the blazer party. I don’t teach or tend to much of anything outside the house on Tuesdays so I figured I’d get in my blazer wearing today. I’m not sure if this was completely intentional on my part or not, but I am kinda rockin’ the monochromes with this green on green on green and purple on purple action here. I mean it works but that’s a lot of color on color monochrome that borderlines matchy matchy.

I’ve had this blazer for at least five or so years and have worn it often for teaching. I feel like a blazer in the classroom commands a certain respect and authority but depending on how you style it, it can also convey a sense of casualness. Since this blazer is a little ill-fitting around the waist, I usually leave it unbutton which I hope conveys a confident and relax energy.

I’m going to be honest here. I actually like this outfit more without the blazer. I think it has an interesting “My Girl Friday” retro vibe to it. What do you think? Blazer or no blazer?

You may notice that I am not wearing tights. Well, that’s because it was in the 70s today. I guess So. Cal. is over that cold streak. I guess I have been wearing tights and pants so often lately that my legs have gotten incredibly pale. I mean, I’m not one to tan but still this is Nicole Kidman on a bad day sorta pale. I do have to say though with all the running I have been doing and all the walking up and down flights of stairs to get to my classroom, my legs are looking pretty damn good. Anyone know where I can register as a leg model?

  1. Not sure if it’s your super attractive poses or what, but I love the outfit with the blazer. And I’m IN LOVE with the different greens and purples here. Not anywhere near matchy-matchy. I’m gonna try it at some point, for sure!

  2. It’s ok to be early. I have to be early anyway since I have to do the first post to make sure it all goes smoothly. Hopefully I’ll be able to relax about it in the coming months…
I like those color combos. And the blazer does work very nicely, though I might agree that I prefer the outfit without it, it makes for a great silhouette. Either way, you look put together!
    Thanks for participating to EBEW!
